First Public Exhibition Feedback
The first Public Exhibition was held on Tuesday 24 March at Branchton Community Centre, Branchton Road, Greenock, PA16 DXX.
Eight consultation boards were on display at this event, covering the site, planning context, the proposed development, policy considerations, site assessment & environmental considerations and next steps. A total of 4 people attended the event.
A project website was also made accessible, which provided the opportunity to view the boards displayed at the event, complete feedback forms or contact the project team. A live interactive event was held on the website on Thursday 26 March between 7pm and 8pm, where members of the public had the opportunity to interact with the project team via a live chat function. There were no attendees at the online interactive event.
Consultation Feedback
There was an opportunity for the public to provide feedback on the draft proposals via a feedback form (hard copy or online), via email or by post. The public could also provide feedback through the live chat function on the project website on the 26 March between 7pm and 8pm.
Separate feedback forms were provided for both the Data Centre application, which is being submitted as a Major Planning Application under the Town and Country Planning (Scotland) Act 1997 to the Local Planning Authority, and for the BESS application, which is being submitted via a Section 36 application under the Electricity Act 1989 to the ECU.
A summary of feedback received with regards to the two separate applications is provided below.
Data Centre Feedback
Four hard copy feedback forms were received in total. No online feedback forms were received. A summary of feedback received is provided below:
- All respondents support investment in digital infrastructure; and
- All respondents agree that a Data Centre is an appropriate use for the site.
BESS Feedback
Four hard copy feedback forms were received in total. No online feedback forms were received.
- All respondents support investment in renewable energy; and
- All respondents agree that a BESS is an appropriate use for the site.
Response to Feedback from First Public Exhibition
Aspects of the proposed development which were considered to be the most important to respondents were as follows:
- Noise levels;
- Environmental impact;
- Creation of jobs;
- Traffic impact; and
- Redevelopment of a brownfield site.
